================================================================ From: "Megan MacLaughlin-Barck" To: Subject: Alumni efforts Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2005 05:45:38 -0500 Dear Tom, I was just directed to your site by a former band parent, and wanted to let you know about efforts being made by the alumni. I have attached a copy of our press release, but want to give some more background for you. I am a 1988 graduate, and have been working with Darrin Senn (1990), Eric Olsen (1988), and Joe Coughlin (1990) - all of us marching band alumni -- to coordinate alumni efforts. We have established an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. We are currently calling the fund "The Greenhalgh Family Endowment Fund," or, informally, "The G Fund." Darrin and I have had several meetings with the Foundation's executive director, Carol Gienapp, and met today with the Chair, Bert Swanson. We are thankful for this opportunity to provide an endowment fund which will provide support for the band program. We have been busy inviting alumni and others to our first meeting to be held this evening at 8 pm. After that meeting, the structure of our advisory committee to the endowment fund will be finalized, and we will move forward with plans to raise funds for the endowment through a memorial concert and other events and ideas alumni have suggested. The Community Foundation of Chippewa County is accepting funds for the Greenhalgh Family Endowment Fund, and we are pleased to report that we have already established almost 20% of the funds we need to become fully endowed. We have been working closely with the administration and Greenhalgh family to ensure that the community is aware of 3 distinct directions for memorial contributions: (1) first and foremost, memorials directly to the family, as they would also like to direct funds toward organizations important to Therese and Morgan, (2) "The G Fund" established with the goal of providing annual funds to benefit the band program, and (3) the scholarship fund being established through the Chippewa Falls Area United School District Foundation, which we understand is a joint effort with the CFMA. Thank you for your time and your efforts in maintaining the website. Megan MacLaughlin-Barck
