Chi Hi Music Boosters Bylaws Article I: Name of the Organization The name of this nonprofit volunteer organization shall be the Chi Hi Music Boosters, hereinafter referred to as the “CFMB.” Article II: Objectives A.To unite parents and faculty in the common goal of providing opportunities for Chippewa Falls High School (hereinafter referred to as “Chi-Hi”) music students to excel in their chosen course of musical expression. B.To raise awareness of the importance of music in our students’ education. C.To provide a supportive arena where students can hone their talents and skills, establish new goals, and continually challenge themselves and others to reach for their dreams. D.To arouse and maintain an enthusiastic interest in the various facets of the music program at Chi-Hi. E.To lend all possible support and cooperation, both moral and financial, to the music program at Chi-Hi. F.To cooperate with the Music Department staff, the Administration and the School Board so that the music program can be maintained at the highest possible degree of efficiency. Article III: Membership A.There are no annual dues required to be a member of the CFMB. B.Membership in the CFMB shall be open to parents and guardians of students enrolled in the Chi-Hi music program. All members may participate in the voting process, hold elective office and serve on committees. Article IV: Officers and their Elections A.The officers of this organization shall be a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Coordinator and Past-President. B.A majority vote of the members present shall constitute an election. Elections will be held at the April meeting and newly elected officers shall assume their duties at the next scheduled meeting. C.Terms of office for all officers shall be two (2) years. D.In the event that an officer cannot complete his/her full term for any reason, a replacement for that term will be appointed by majority vote of the remaining members of the Executive Committee. Article V: Duties of Officers A.The President shall preside at all meetings of the CFMB and oversee the operation of the CFMB. The President shall be chair of the Executive Committee and may be an advisory member of any committee. B.The Vice-President shall assume all duties of the President in his or her absence. C.The Secretary shall keep the records and minutes of all meetings and have them published on the CFMB website. The Secretary shall handle all correspondence received by or pertaining to the CFMB. He/she shall keep a current copy of the Bylaws on hand for reference at meetings. D.The Treasurer shall receive all funds due to the CFMB, deposit them in designated depository, pay all bills upon proper authorization, and provide comprehensive reports of all receipts, expenditures and fund balances to the CFMB. The Treasurer’s signature only is required on checks. E.The Newsletter Coordinator shall publish newsletters to the CFMB membership as necessary throughout the year and shall maintain contact information for CFMB members. The Newsletter Coordinator shall also work closely with the Web Designer to ensure all events of the CFMB are published. F.The Past-President shall act as advisor to the current CFMB officers. Article VI: Executive Board A.The Executive Board shall be composed of the officers of the CFMB and the immediate Past-President. Music teachers of Chi-Hi shall serve as advisory members of the Executive Board. B.The Executive Board shall have the emergency power to act for the membership between meetings. C.The Executive Board shall supervise the activities of the CFMB and shall meet as necessary. Meetings shall be called at the discretion of the President or a simple majority of the Executive Board. D.The Executive Board will be empowered to spend up to $1,000.00 per fiscal year without approval of the CFMB members, but with a majority vote of the Board. E.The Executive Board shall prepare and submit to the membership, at the first meeting of the school year, a budget for the membership’s approval. F.A majority of the members of the Executive Board shall constitute a quorum at the meetings. Article VII: Meetings A.The regular meetings of the CFMB shall be held on the second Tuesday of each calendar month at 7:00 p.m. at the high school. The night and/or location of the regular meeting may be changed if it conflicts with a school program, concert or commencement. B.Special meetings may be called by the President, a majority of the Executive Board, or ten (10) members of the organization. C.Meetings of the CHMB shall be open to all members. D.A quorum shall consist of those members present. E.All questions of parliamentary law shall be governed by ROBERT’S RULES OF ORDER, revised, in all cases in which they do not conflict with the rules of this organization. F.At every regular or special meeting the Order of Business shall be: a.Call to Order b.Report of the Previous Minutes c.Treasurer’s Financial Report d.Unfinished Business e.New Business f.Committee Reports g.Other Business and Announcements h.Adjournment Article VIII: Fiscal Year A.The fiscal year of the organization shall begin on July 1 and conclude on June 30. B.The financial records shall be audited during the last two (2) weeks of the fiscal year. C.The auditor or audit committee shall be selected by the Executive Board. Article IX: Liability Indemnification Member of the Chi Hi Music Boosters are covered as volunteer by the Chippewa Falls Public Schools. The rules for volunteers should be followed at all times. Article X: Amendments A.Amendments to these Bylaws may be proposed at any regular meeting. The proposed amendments must be presented in writing to the presiding officer and read to the attendees. B.The proposed amendments will be voted on at the next regular meeting. C.Passage of any amendment requires a two-thirds (2/3) approval vote of members present.
