On Tuesday, October 25, 2005, the Chi-Hi Marching Cardinals
performed at a post-season half-time show on their own field.
It was their first marching performance since the
tragic bus accident nine days earlier.
It was also the first time in six years that the Marching Cardinals got to play AFTER their state competition in Whitewater, which is usually their last marching performance of the season. Many people were glad that the Chi-Hi football team earned a home-field playoff game; this is one year when the band needed to march one more time after the events of last week. It was a nice touch when the football players came out of their locker room after half time -- they stood in a line and held their helmets up to salute the marching band members leaving the field. (Incidentally, the marching band performance must have inspired those players to come back from a first-half deficit to win a decisive victory and go on to the next round!) I already have zillions of photos of the marching band, so for this halftime show I spent more time taking short video clips with my FZ20 digital camera. (I also got a full videotape on mini-DV, but not sure if or when I can get that uploaded to a web page.) They are short -- I wish now I had taken some longer segments. If you have time for only one, check out the finale. Enjoy, - Tom Arneberg (toma@arneberg.com) |
