Chi-Hi Marching Band: State Competition 10/20/2007

On the weekend of October 19-21, 2007, the Chi-Hi Marching Cardinals competed in state marching band competition. Like last year, the Cards drove five buses down to Sun Prairie Friday night and slept two nights on the gym floor at a middle school.

Unlike last year's torrential rain, the weather this year was spectacular! That allowed me to get close-ups of the afternoon rehearsal, to make up for relatively poor quality of the few photos I was able to take at the night-time competition. The Cards placed fifth again this year in AAAA, being outgunned only by suburban Milwaukee high schools.

Many of these photos I took with my FZ30 are not high quality, but hopefully you can have fun reliving the weekend or finding a candid you like. BTW, yes, I know it's a lot of photos -- but I figure that every single person in the band has a mom or someone out there who thinks he or she is the most important person in the band! So who am I to delete a close-up of someone like that, even it's it's not a perfect shot?

P.S. -- don't compare these to to professional photos shot with a large-sensor camera and a $2000 lens. These shots won't replace the 8x12 group shot or the on-field shots sold by the pros, so you might want to purchase those. These are more to "tell the story" of the weekend. But if you do want to make color prints of any of these, feel free -- just make sure to click the small to get the medium, and click on the medium to get the high-res fullsize shot before you download for printing.         Enjoy!         - Tom Arneberg (toma@arneberg.com)                 Unique visitors: Visitor Counter by
